You Might Be Brock's Friend If...
1. You call Brock at the end of the first quarter of the Liberty Bowl
with a score update.
2. You give Brock sourpatch kids when he is having a lousy morning.
3. You call Brock during the second quarter of the Liberty Bowl when
Garrett Mills scores another touchdown.
4. You let me use your iBook G4 to type emails ahead of time to save
Internet time.
5. You call Brock at halftime of the Liberty Bowl with a score update
and some vital statistics like team yards (passing and rushing),
completion % for Paul Smith, receptions & yards for Mills, carries and
yards for whoever happens to carry the ball this game maybe Parrish,
anything important on defense (interceptions, fumble recoveries, pass
break-ups, sacks, tackles, big hits, etc.)
6. You listen to Brock recount the last 5 years of Tulsa football lore
for over an hour.
7. You call Brock when Ashlan Davis returns the opening kickoff of the
second half of the Liberty Bowl for a touchdown.
8. You help Brock attempt to cook all sorts of random foods like
tortillias, salsa, cheese fries, apple crisp, no-bake chocolate
cookies.
9. You call Brock at the end of the third quarter of the Liberty Bowl
with a score update.
10. You get your parents to TiVo the Liberty Bowl along with the
VaTech game, burn them on DVD and send them to Namibia to be seen
sometime in 2006 in Mariental, the most lifeless and lethargic town
you'll ever pass through according to Lonely Planet in its 2003
edition of the Southern Africa guidebook. The 2006 edition will have
to account for Mariental's two newest residents, Beth Dixon and Megan
Tracy, who are the most vibrant and vivacious duo to ever descend on
this sleepy town.
11. You call Brock during the fourth quarter of the Liberty Bowl to
gloat about the Golden Hurricane's impending victory over the
Bulldogs.
12. You stay up all night on New Year's Eve with Brock hoping the
Liberty Bowl will be played on ESPN starting around 3 in the morning
since the programing seems to switch to American around midnight.
13. You call Brock at the end of the Liberty Bowl to celebrate Tulsa's
win over Fresno
14. You call Brock at the end of the Liberty Bowl to tell a good Fresno joke.
15. You call Brock at the end of the Liberty Bowl to update the vital
statistics which should look something like: Smith 22-29, 276 yards, 3
td; Mills 8-123, 2 td; Davis 3-78, 1td; Parrish 18-85, 1 td. Tulsa 41
- Fresno 31.
For real, I posted a cell phone number sometime in November that you
can call me on during the Liberty Bowl (Yes D2, the number in your
comment is correct). If I did the math right, a noon central time
start means 8PM on Saturday in Namibia. I'll be awake indefinitely
because I'm hoping the game will be on ESPN in the middle of the night
after we celebrate the New Year several hours before all of you
unfortunate folks in America. Comment when you plan on calling so you
can all space out your calls and keep me updated on the last great
football game of 2005.

Hey Brock!
I'm glad I was shown this site, it's great to be able to hear from you from all the way across the world. We all missed you at Grandma's house for Christmas, but we know that what you're doing over there is wonderful and very important. We're praying for you!!
Brock,
Sorry your predictions on Mills were squashed... but at least he was a good enough distraction to leave Ashlan Davis open nearly 80 yards downfield for a touchdown that turned the game around along with the two interceptions in the second half. I won't lie though, I don't think Paul Smith deserved to be MVP of that game. He played well in the second half... some good scrambles, including the one into the endzone... but looked ugly early on and had at least two passes slapped down or nearly intercepted.
My vote goes to either Ashlan for his consistancy in pushing the chains or Nick Graham/Anthony Germany (which ever one of those guys caught the interceptions... It might have been one a piece).
Yes, Pam and I made the trip (and the game, obviously) and will send you some photos soon. We miss you much and wish you could have been there to see it for yourself. :)
